1st "Genting Cup" International Ski Grand Prix wrapped up

From February 25 to 26, 2017, the 1st "Genting Cup" International Ski Grand Prix took place at Genting Resort Secret Garden (Genting), presenting a challenging sports feast to ski aficionados. As a brand-name sports event independently organized by Genting, the grand prix was strongly supported by the Zhangjiakou Ski Association, the Chongli District People's Government and the Chongli Sports Bureau, as well as five international ski resorts in partnership with Genting. The skiers from LAAX Ski Resort, Hakuba Happo-one Ski Resort and the Chinese national team presented stunning shows.

The grand prix is a team slalom time trial (snowboarding/skiing). With well-designed tracks and China's first Olympic sized half pipe, it attracted more than 200 snowboarders and skiers from across the country for a showdown. Over 5,000 ski aficionados watched the event.

Qin Xiaodong, General Manager of Genting Grand Hotel, presented awards to the winners along with the representatives from LAAX Ski Resort and Hakuba Happo-one Ski Resort. With prize money of 120,000 yuan, the event is one of the domestic popular ski events distributing the most prize money. The prize money was provided by Lvmama and C'estbon, and mass prizes were provided by brands such as Burton, Head, B.C.Sports, Oakley, GoPro, One Way, 686, Coldmount, Snowfavor, Free Ski Zone and ETown.

Professional tracks, close competitions, international ski shows, brand road shows, electronic music party, rich food for choice…the 1st "Genting Cup" International Ski Grand Prix presented an immersive snowfield carnival to ski aficionados who had a good time on snow and in sunshine.

As the freestyle skiing and snowboarding site for FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021 and Winter Olympics 2022, with professional tracks and perfect hardware facilities, Genting is a ski attraction to ski aficionados. As part of the Winter Olympic strategy of Genting, the grand prix aims to build an independent-branded sports event and carnival, host an international sports event in the freestyle skiing tracks for the Winter Olympics and pioneer a trendy lifestyle of skiing, leisure and holiday.

Since 2012, Genting has successfully organized a couple of FIS-certified skiing events. Next it will work closely with the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games to construct the freestyle skiing tracks for FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021 and Winter Olympics 2022, and brace itself for the Winter Olympics.
